Nikon announces FX lens trio: AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm, 24-120mm and 85mm

Three new Nikkor lenses: Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR and Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G

Nikon has announced three new FX-format lenses, covering a variety of focal lengths and suited to a range of photographic needs.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
First up is the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. The lens covers a focal range new to the Nikkor lens line-up, offering nearly an 11x optical zoom and following the lead of the popular 18-200mm DX Nikkor lens.

The new 28-300mm features the full compliment of Nikkor technologies, including its exclusive second generation Vibration Reduction system (VRII), Silent Wave Motor (SWM), as well as two ED and three aspherical glass elements.

The second FX lens to debut today is the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR. Offering a 5x optical zoom, the 24-120mm features a fixed maximum aperture of f/4 throughout the aforementioned focal range, offering excellent versatility. The new lens also Nikon's VRII vibration reduction system, as well as Nano Crystal coating to minimise ghosting, flare and aberrations.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G
The final FX lens announced today is the new Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G. The lens surpasses the previous Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 lens, in no small part to a completely new optical design. The 85mm also features the Silent Wave Motor and Nano Crystal Coating, making it perfectly suited to portrait and fashion photography.

Both the 28-300mm and 85mm lenses hit stores on 2nd September, with RRPs of £869.99 and £1499.99 respectively, while the Nikkor 24-120mm will be on sale slightly later in the month with an RRP of £1049.99.

Testimonials

Moving from the SWPP to the NPS was the best thing I did for my business in 2011.
I've found the support, advice and Licentiate process much more user friendly, and with over a Terabyte of my photos backed up online with the NPS, you can't argue the value for money!
Thanks NPS!!"
